State of Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Approves New Errol PUD

State regulators have officially approved the proposed comprehensive plan amendment for the New Errol project.

The plan, a redevelopment of the 45-year old Errol Estate golf course community in Apopka, had required a state regulatory review after having been approved by City Council in August.

No official comments were made by the State regulators upon review, nor were any changes requested by the State.

The PUD will now continue in proceedings at the City regulatory level.

“It’s back in the hands of the city and we’re on the city’s schedule to continue down that path to approving the comp plan, to approving our PUD” Wyzisk III said. “It will likely be early in 2018 before it will come back before the City Council.”

City Council Advances New Errol to Next Stage

The City of Apopka City Council voted 4-1 to approve the Errol Estates development project, which now advances it to the state level.

Signature H Property Group, the developers of the “New Errol” project, presented their massive undertaking to the Apopka City Council Tuesday night. The project, which would completely transform Errol Estate, includes:

  • A 15,000 square foot clubhouse with restaurant
  • A boutique lodge hotel
  • A two-acre water park
  • Outdoor parks and trails
  • 261 new residences
  • A resort-like Adult Living Facility

Proceedings had included Q&A, during which City Council had addressed some concerns about the project. The due diligence line of questioning by Council was met with reassurance from Helmut Wyzisk Jr. and Helmut Wyzisk III of Signature H Property Group, leading to a 4-1 decision in favor of the proposal.

The planned development will be sent to Tallahassee for review by the Florida Department Economic opportunities staff.
